The Timeless Clear Silver Shin Outdoor Mezuzah brings an architectural simplicity to the doorway through a transparent waterproof acrylic body and one polished silver Hebrew detail. This mezuzah case measures seven inches tall yet remains visually light, allowing the doorpost and handwritten scroll to remain part of the overall composition.

Instead of relying on color or ornament, the design uses clarity, proportion, and reflection. The narrow silver Shin creates a precise focal point while the surrounding acrylic nearly disappears against white trim, wood, metal, glass, or a painted doorway.

The clean presentation makes this mezuzah cover well suited to modern homes, offices, apartments, and entrances where the case should appear intentional without dominating the architecture. Its larger chamber also accommodates several common parchment sizes, including scrolls up to six inches.

Within a broader collection of Mezuzah Case styles, this design offers a practical combination of full waterproofing, transparent presentation, Israeli origin, and understated silver symbolism.

An Architectural Clear Acrylic Mezuzah

The transparent acrylic creates defined edges without adding an opaque block of color to the doorway. Light passes through the front and sides, allowing the case to reflect its surroundings and change subtly as it is viewed from different angles.

This clean construction works especially well on white-painted trim, dark wood, chrome hardware, glass-adjacent entrances, modern apartments, offices, and rooms where a decorative case might feel visually crowded.

The product’s clarity gives it a natural relationship with other acrylic mezuzahs, while the transparent body places it among refined clear mezuzah covers.

Its restrained proportions also coordinate naturally with contemporary mezuzahs designed for updated homes, offices, apartments, and recently renovated spaces.

A Polished Silver Shin Suspended over the Scroll

The front features a polished silver Shin (ש, Hebrew letter). Against the clear acrylic, the symbol appears almost suspended in front of the parchment, giving the minimal case a distinct focal point without introducing a patterned background.

Shin is the first letter of Shaddai (שַׁדַּי, Divine Name), traditionally associated with mezuzah. The Divine Name is also connected with Shomer Daltot Yisrael (שׁוֹמֵר דַּלְתוֹת יִשְׂרָאֵל, Guardian of the doorways of Israel).

The silver Shin provides meaningful exterior symbolism, but the case is not made kosher by the visible letter. A properly handwritten klaf inside the chamber is required to fulfill the mitzvah.

The cool metallic detail fits naturally beside chrome, stainless steel, black hardware, gray finishes, and other silver mezuzah cases. Its recognizable Hebrew symbol also maintains a connection with more traditional mezuzahs.

Large Scroll Compatibility without a Heavy Profile

The seven-inch exterior gives the case enough interior capacity for Kosher Mezuzah Scrolls ranging from 4 Inches (10 cm) through 6 Inches (15 cm). This flexibility makes it suitable for customers selecting a larger-format parchment or transferring an existing compatible scroll into a new waterproof holder.

The case may be physically larger than a standard clear holder, but transparency prevents it from appearing bulky. Customers looking for more scroll capacity without an opaque or ornate design may find this a useful alternative to other large mezuzah cases.

The parchment must fit comfortably within the chamber and should never be folded, trimmed, compressed, pinched, or forced. Choose only one of the scroll sizes specifically listed as compatible.

Choosing the Kosher Scroll and Writing Tradition

When a compatible scroll is purchased with the case, Mezuzah Store can carefully roll it, insert it from the back, and close the chamber before shipping. The transparent case can also be ordered separately by customers who already own an appropriately sized kosher parchment.

The acrylic protects and displays the scroll, while the handwritten klaf (קְלָף, parchment) inside fulfills the commandment. Different sizes, quality levels, and script traditions are represented among our Mezuzah Scrolls for Sale.

Customers following Ashkenazi minhag (מִנְהָג, custom) may select Beit Yosef writing associated with Ashkenazi Mezuzahs. Families following Sephardic practice may choose Vellish writing associated with Sephardic Mezuzahs.

The words visible through the case are not decorative printing. A guide to inside a mezuzah explains the Shema and Vehaya im shamoa passages written by a qualified sofer STaM.

Made in Israel with a Clear Contemporary Identity

The Timeless Clear Silver Shin Outdoor Mezuzah is made in Israel. Its function-first acrylic construction reflects a contemporary form of Judaica intended to protect the scroll while remaining simple enough for everyday doorways.

The clear body can be repeated across several rooms without requiring every doorway to share the same wood tone, wall color, hardware, or decorative style. This makes it useful for homes or offices installing matching mezuzot across multiple qualifying entrances.

Its Israeli origin gives the practical transparent design a place among other Israeli mezuzahs created in a wide range of modern and traditional materials.

Waterproof Protection for Exterior Doorways

The clear acrylic body is fully waterproof and suitable for indoor and exterior doorways when the rear chamber is assembled and sealed correctly.

This makes it particularly useful among mezuzah cases for outdoors, including front entrances, patios, back doors, garage entries, apartment doorways, and office exteriors.

The transparent body makes the general position of the rolled parchment visible, but the klaf should remain properly wrapped and protected. Visibility should never take priority over preserving the sacred writing.

Periodic inspection is recommended for outdoor installations. The stronger protection associated with protective outdoor mezuzahs still depends on the chamber remaining closed, the body remaining intact, and the parchment being handled correctly.

Included Mounting Tape for a Clean Installation

The case affixes with extra-strong double-sided mounting tape, which is included. No nails are needed, allowing the transparent case to remain visually clean without visible mounting hardware.

The doorpost must be clean, dry, smooth, and stable. Dust, moisture, peeling paint, heavy texture, porous masonry, or an unstable finish may prevent the adhesive from making complete contact.

Press the case firmly and evenly against the surface after confirming its position. If it is removed and relocated later, use new mounting tape rather than attempting to reuse the original adhesive.

Proper Mezuzah Placement on the Doorpost

Proper mezuzah placement generally positions the case on the right side when entering the room or home, within the upper portion of the doorpost and according to the relevant family or community minhag.

The slim transparent body should be installed where it will remain clear of the moving door, storm door, furniture, packages, and other objects that might strike or loosen it.

The bracha for mezuzah is recited when affixing the mezuzah under the applicable halachic circumstances. The blessing is separate from the silver Shin on the case and the sacred text inside the parchment.

A Silver Alternative within the Timeless Clear Series

The silver finish creates a cooler and more architectural appearance than the gold version, coordinating naturally with chrome, stainless steel, gray paint, black metal, glass, and contemporary fixtures.

For a warmer metallic focal point, the clear gold Shin sibling design uses the same waterproof seven-inch acrylic form with a gold Hebrew accent.

The silver version is especially appropriate for customers who want the case to echo existing door hardware while keeping the parchment and doorway visually open.

Cleaning and Protecting Clear Acrylic

Use a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth to clean the exterior. Avoid abrasive pads, strong solvents, rough brushes, and harsh chemical products that could cloud or scratch the transparent acrylic or alter the silver finish.

Do not open the chamber unnecessarily after the scroll has been inserted and sealed. Exterior installations should be checked periodically to confirm that the case, adhesive, and seal remain secure.

If water reaches the parchment or the Hebrew letters appear damaged, remove the scroll carefully and arrange for examination by a qualified sofer or magiah.

With its polished silver Shin, clear waterproof acrylic body, Israeli origin, generous scroll capacity, and understated architectural profile, the Timeless Clear Silver Shin Outdoor Mezuzah offers a practical modern case for interior and exterior Jewish doorways.

A Mezuzah brings blessings and protection to your home. In the Jewish tradition, it should be placed on almost every doorpost - including the front door, back door, and bedroom doors - serving as a constant reminder our obligations to God. Inside a Mezuzah is a scroll inscribed with two passages from the Torah, symbolizing the connection between God and the home. More than a tradition, the Mezuzah sanctifies each entrance, filling the home with holiness, peace and spiritual significance.

FAQ

Do your mezuzahs come with a scroll inside?

We sell the Mezuzah cover and the Mezuzah scroll separately.  This is because some people already have scrolls which they purchased from their Rabbi or Synagogue.  Others may already have a Mezuzah with a scroll and they just want to switch the Mezuzah cover to a different one to match their decor etc.

In order to make it easier for you, every product page has an option to add the proper sized Kosher scroll.  If you choose this option, you will receive your Mezuzah with the scroll already wrapped in protective covering and inserted into your Mezuzah cover.

Who certifies your Mezuzahs?

All of our Mezuzahs are guaranteed to be 100% Kosher.  They are hand written by expert scribes in Israel.  They are then computer checked for textual errors.  Finally they are checked by and expert scribe at our workshop in Los Angeles.

Currently there is no organization anywhere that certifies Mezuzahs as Kosher.  But you can rest assured that our Mezuzahs are 100% Kosher.  In fact we are the source of Mezuzahs for many Orthodox Rabbis as well as synagogues and Chabad Houses all over the country.

What makes a Mezuzah "Kosher"?

A Kosher Meuzah is handwritten on parchment by a scribe who is trained in the laws of writing a Mezuzah.  A scroll which is reproduced by machine, or not written according to the laws of the Torah, is not Kosher.  Read our "About Mezuzahs" page to learn more about Mezuzahs.

I am not religious.  Can I get a Non-Kosher scroll?

At MezuzahStore.com we believe very much in the importance of having Kosher Mezuzahs on every door of your home.  Although we don't judge someone who doesn't feel the need to have a Kosher Mezuzah, it would be wrong for us to sell something that we don't believe in.  Therefore we only sell Kosher Mezuzah scrolls even though we lose a lot of sales to people who don't want to pay for the scroll.

I would like my order shipped by UPS or FedEx.  Can you do that?
Currently, we do not ship via private carriers.  We have found over time that USPS Priority or Express Mail is very cost effective.

What do I do of my item is defective or if it arrives damaged?
