Bright white aluminum with a single raised Shin, and nothing else on the face. It is the case to choose when the doorframe should stay the quiet part and the mezuzah should simply sit there cleanly, which is why white works so well on painted trim, light stone, and contemporary entrances.

Made in Israel from waterproof aluminum with a screw-cap closure and a sealed scroll chamber, this mezuzah cover is built for exterior use as much as interior. It belongs with our white mezuzah covers and our outdoor mezuzah cases.

The included extra-strong double-sided mounting tape makes installation straightforward on smooth surfaces, with no nails and no drilling, which matters in a rental or a condo where drilling is not an option. Anyone comparing water-resistant mezuzah cases will find this among the cleanest profiles in the range.

White Aluminum Mezuzah Scroll Guidance

This mezuzah case is built to hold a kosher mezuzah scroll up to 5 inches. The sealed chamber and screw cap protect the parchment, but the mitzvah (מִצְוָה, commandment) itself depends on the kosher klaf (קְלָף, parchment) inside, handwritten by a certified sofer STaM. A case on its own, however well made, is not yet a mezuzah.

Outer height and scroll size are never the same number. This case measures 5 1/2 inches on the outside and the screw cap takes up the difference, which is why it is listed for a 5-inch scroll. When you are between sizes, size down. A parchment forced into a chamber that is fractionally too short will crack its letters, and a cracked letter makes the scroll invalid.

If you choose to not buy a scroll, we ship the case empty. Choose that if you already own a kosher scroll that fits. If you need one, our kosher mezuzah scrolls are listed by parchment height so you can match them directly, and insertion is free when you buy the scroll with the case. We roll the klaf, wrap it airtight, place it in the chamber and seal the closure.

For installation supplies, our mezuzah tape and adhesives collection covers wider and stronger options for textured or awkward surfaces.

Modern Waterproof White Aluminum Outdoor Mezuzah Design

The Shin stands for Shaddai (שַׁדַּי), a Name of God read traditionally as an acronym for Shomer Daltot Yisrael, Guardian of the doorways of Israel. It is the oldest mark on a mezuzah case and the reason so many carry a single letter and no other ornament. Raised rather than engraved, it catches light against the matte white and stays legible from across a hallway.

  • White aluminum body: Matte and neutral, made to disappear into painted trim and light stone
  • Raised Shin: Standing proud of the face rather than cut into it
  • Screw-cap closure: Seals the scroll chamber for exterior doorway use
  • Slim rectangular profile: Half an inch wide, clearing door frames with a narrow reveal
  • Made in Israel: Produced in Israel rather than generically imported
  • Extra-strong mounting tape: Included, so no nails and no drilling

This piece sits with the rest of our aluminum mezuzah cases and our modern mezuzah cases.

Where to Place This Mezuzah

White is the safest finish in the range, which is exactly its value: it works on a white-painted front door, a light apartment frame, a bathroom-adjacent hallway, an office suite, or anywhere a run of doorways should all match without drawing attention. For a full house, it is the easiest case to buy six of.

The mezuzah goes on the right doorpost as you enter, in the lower part of the upper third, roughly shoulder height on a standard door. Ashkenazi custom slants the top inward toward the room; most Sephardic communities affix it straight. Our guide to putting up a mezuzah covers the blessing and the placement in full.

For any exterior doorway, heat and moisture are hard on parchment even inside a sealed case. Halacha calls for a home's mezuzot to be examined by a sofer twice every seven years, and an outdoor scroll is worth checking more often than that.

Get Mezuzahs for Your Entire Home!

Jewish tradition places a mezuzah on nearly every doorway of the home, not only the front door. Bedrooms, the kitchen, a study and the back door all take one, which is why most families build their collection a few doors at a time. Our guide to which rooms need a mezuzah works through which doorways are obligated, and the full range of mezuzot is organised by size, material and colour so a second case is easy to match to the first.

Certified Kosher Mezuzah Scrolls

Scrolls for Mezuzahs

The scroll is the heart and soul of the mezuzah, so it is essential that it be 100% certified kosher. Our Mezuzah scrolls are carefully handwritten on genuine calfskin parchment by certified Torah scribes, known as Sofrim.

After being examined with specialized computer software to detect scribal errors, every scroll is personally reviewed by our in-house Sofer to ensure that it meets the strict halachic standards of a 100% kosher mezuzah scroll.
